Dear Parents,
Earlier this semester, Bellevue’s Middle School Student Council went to a middle school youth leadership conference and heard Mark Drake speak. What he talked about hit home as Mr. Drake’s message related to issues that Student Council members see some of their classmates dealing with every day. Mr. Drake has been involved in youth work for 30 years in the Quad Cities. His presentations share his personal experiences as well as stories from his work with students through the years. Specifically, Mr. Drake speaks about mental health and suicide awareness with an orientation toward understanding and helping each other as students. Council members were inspired by his words and so invited him to come and share his message with the students at Bellevue. In cooperation with the Bellevue Schools, Andrew School has arranged to have Mr. Drake visit our students as well.
Mark Drake will be talking to the Andrew Middle School (grades 6-8) students at Andrew School on Wednesday April, 25 at 11:00 AM. Mr. Drake will present to Andrew students in the morning. He will be doing presentations for the Bellevue high school and middle school students in separate assemblies in the afternoon. Mark will be holding a session for interested parents and community members from Bellevue and Andrew in the evening at 5:00 pm in the Bellevue main gym. We will have free pizza for those who RSVP by emailing or calling the Bellevue high school office. The evening session will last one hour. (Please be advised that due to the subject matter, it may not be appropriate for younger children to attend.)
If you have any questions about this assembly, please contact Mrs. Wagner at Andrew School.
