Today, LEAP learned about fiber and made bowls with Jenna Stevens. We then made homemade pop tarts. Yummy!

Due to the construction at the school, we are going to cancel our Unpack the Backpack night for tomorrow night. As much as we wanted everything to be done by now, the delays in the delivery of some HVAC equipment have caused some setbacks. We are fortunate that we have the classroom A/C units and the workers believe they will get those up and running before the start of school. That is great news because if you have been paying attention to the weather, experts anticipate the first day to be somewhere between 93-103 degrees.
We will still have our event at the Drive-in tomorrow evening and we hope to see you all there. You can enter the drive-in at 6:30. We encourage families to come as soon as you are able so you can interact with families and staff before the movie. We will have yard games set up for all to play, as well as, the other activities out at the drive-in to do. Unfortunately, the train is broken right now, but there are other fun things to do. As you enter, please stop at the gate to get your coupon for a free large tub of popcorn for your family (from the Parent Lighthouse Team).

Today LEAP spent some time at Little Bear Park and made smiles for snacks. Had a little fun rolling around.

LEAP'S Late Leadership Academy got off to a fun start. Some play time and we made rainbow/tie dyed waffles.
Reminder. If your student is signed up for LEAP's Late Summer Leadership Academy, it will be next week, August 14th through August 18th.

Friendly Reminder: Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, is registration day for the 23-24 school year. We will be here from 9:00 - 6:00 if you would like to stop in and register or you are welcome to register from the convenience of your home at any time. We do ask that you try and register by the end of the day tomorrow so teachers and staff can prepare and get classrooms set for their students. Another reminder that tomorrow, August 3rd is LEAP'S Niabi Zoo trip. If your student is signed up, please bring them to school at 8:45. The bus will leave around 9:00. Lunch will be provided. Uncrustable, chips, fruit snacks and water. Your student may bring their own lunch if they want.
Student will be back to school and ready for pick-up at 2:30.

Andrew School will be closed on August 3rd due to a power switchover with Alliant Energy. Little Leaders Daycare will still be open but will have a different number to reach them for the day. That number is 563.777.0279.

For the 2023-2024 school year, Wednesday LEAP will go from 1:30-3:30. We are needing to make this change because at this time we are not able to locate staff to work the entire 4-hour afternoon.
We wanted to get this message out to you as soon as possible so you were able to make the necessary plans/arrangements for your children next school year.

Registration for Andrew Community School will be held on August 8,2023 in the school Conference Room from 9:00 - 6:00. You are also welcome to register online. Packets with information will be sent out later in the week.
23 - 24 School Supply List
The last day of 21st century after school conference was not a disappointment. We were honored to meet and listen to the founders of after school programs. We learned about several new, fun learning activities that we can incorporate into our LEAP program. Also did a little sightseeing after the conference. Had the famous beignets that everyone has been talking about. They were awesome!
After School Summer Conference is amazing and very informative. We were privileged to see and listen to
Jackie Joyner-Kersee talk about her challenges growing up, as well as, her devotion to after school programs. But I think the highlight of today was seeing a piece of artwork displayed from one of our own students for all in attendance to view. Congratulations Piper!
We ended our day with a trolley ride around New Orleans.

We have made this feature available this year. It may be a little more expensive to do this feature so make sure you look at your price before you purchase.
