Andrew Families, We had an item that needed to be fixed on the school calendar. The fix is for November 22. That day is a No school day for students or staff. It was simply not colored correctly and we forgot to include that in the fall break. Attached is the fixed calendar.

Families and Community Members, Here is the shirt design for the 5K Spooky Sprint this year. The shirts will be orange and the design and wording will be made with glow-in-the-dark ink... If you are not able to participate but still would like a shirt, they are available for $15 (Please indicate - just a shirt on your form). I am also including the registration form which is due on September 26th (just in case you don't receive one or need another). Hope to see you there!! Andrew Parent Lighthouse Team

Parents and Guardians, Two things are coming home today with your students. The first item is a Red Wheel Fundraiser Packet. Students in K-6 will be bringing these home to try to raise funds for the kids to do fun stuff throughout the year. In the past we have taken the students to the skate park, gone to the Voy Theatre, etc. The other item coming home is the signup for the 5K run. This year it is called the Spooky Sprint. The shirt design will be shared once we have that from the designer.

LEAP will be going to Little Bear Park in Maquoketa today. We will return around 5:20.

We still have room for a few more golf teams. Please look at the information below and call one of the Parent Lighthouse Members to get signed up. The Andrew Parent Lighthouse Team wants to invite any parents interested in joining the Lighthouse Team to our meeting tomorrow night, September 6, from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM. Hope to see you there!!

Families, Just a reminder next week is already Andrew School Spirit Week!! The 6th graders picked out our dress days. They are as follows: Tuesday, September 5 - Pajama Day- Bring a small stuffed animal if you would like! Wednesday, September 6 - Hat Day Thursday, September 7 - Sports (Dress up as your favorite athlete or in your favorite sports clothes) Friday, September 8 - Wear your favorite Iowa or Iowa State Attire! LEAP will be going to Preston City Park today. We will return around 5:25.

Andrew Families, Please make sure your kids have tennis shoes for PE class this year. We will have PE class on Mondays and Thursdays. We will have PE on Wednesdays as well the second half of the year. Thanks!

Here are a couple of photos from our flag-raising ceremony yesterday. For those new to Andrew, this is a tradition we do on the first day of school. The flag gets raised, a staff member sings the national anthem, and then we all do the Pledge of Allegiance. Look this year we even got our construction guys to join us!!

Andrew Families, We have LEAP signup forms in the office if have not received one yet and would like to sign your child up. You will notice there is also our Behavior System for you to go over with your child and sign to acknowledge you both understand the LEAP behavior policy. You can also print them off here if you prefer as well. Please turn the forms in to Jackie Delaney, our LEAP Coordinator.

Andrew Families, The Back to School signs are up and ready for your 2023-2024 first-day-of-school pictures. Make sure to get your pictures in the morning because we will take down the signs in the late morning. We will put them back up Sunday evening for the preschool student's 1st day on Monday. Happy 1st Day of School!!

Andrew Families & Community Members, This afternoon we discovered a gas leak on the exterior of the building on the south side of the school. We immediately called Black Hills Energy. They responded quickly and were able to diagnose the problem. They shut off the gas to the building for tomorrow so they can get the needed parts to fix the problem. This will only affect the stove (which we do not need tomorrow) and the hot water heater. We will have school as scheduled. Remember tomorrow is a 1:30 dismissal. Andrew Families, Due to the extra time it will take for the middle/high school shuttles to return to Andrew this year, the afternoon buses will be about 10-15 minutes later than last year. We wanted to give you a heads-up so you weren't worried about where your children were at. Andrew Families, We just wanted to remind you that school starts tomorrow, Aug. 23, 2023. Tomorrow (Aug. 23) and Thursday, Aug. 24 will both be 1:30 early outs and we do not have LEAP before or after school. See you all tomorrow!!

18th Annual Cards For Kids

Today, LEAP learned about fiber and made bowls with Jenna Stevens. We then made homemade pop tarts. Yummy!
